The Big Egg Hunt was a plan hatched by charity for a record-breaking egg hunt across central London to raise money for good causes. Well they say central London, what they actually mean is all the well-heeled parts, think Mayfair, Knightsbridge etc. This means that you can use it as a romantic, feel-good day out to traipse around some of the more aesthetically pleasing bits of our city with your date.
Over 200 individual eggs, created by leading artists, designers, architects and jewellers, are currently tucked away in various corners of the capital this Easter (don’t fret, you’ll know when you see one, they’re on plinths so you don’t need to go ferreting behind the bins). When you do find one, text in its code and you’ll go into the draw to win a £100k Faberge egg. Not bad huh? That’s your future anniversary gift sorted out.
The eggs are already being auctioned off for charity and are fetching some pretty incredible prices – £50k each is not an uncommon figure on the Sotheby’s auction site – Christ!
